The dive known as “Fumosa” Shoal is characterized by the remains of numerous pilae that supported the large panoramic pier that from Portus Julius stretched into the stretch of water of Lacus Baianus.
The dive winds along the path traced by the pilae, some of which are preserved up to a height of eight metres. It is possible to appreciate the presence of the vestment in opus reticulatum despite the rich and luxuriant vegetation that covers it. The route is further enriched by the suggestive presence of “fumaroles”: real gayser of volcanic origin, which spring from the seabed and are surrounded by chestnut carousels.
