Ischia is now universally recognized as the island of wellness and spa. Its ability to attract tourists, especially from mainland Europe, has made German the most widely spoken language in some parts of the island.
But even below sea level ours defends itself well: it is enough to know that the depth of its waters is such that the channel that divides it from Ponza is the corridor used by sperm whales during their migration (thus asking the triangle Sardinia – Liguria). Waiting for you walls that, starting from its tips, gently descend into the blue covered with gorgonians and studded with boulders under which hundreds of shrimps hide.
During the navigation do not lie then to peer at the horizon … the jumps of dolphins or the puff of whales could greet your passage.
Vivara’s Formiche
A meda marks the apex of this dive which, being situated in the centre of the Ischia canal, is full of life. The currents, sometimes strong, typical of the place, impose to the diver a certain degree of experience despite the reduced depth. The rocks that compose it, have suggestive shapes, rich in natural arches, caves with skylights, spires encrusted with sessile life, which have helped to give it the nickname of “Castle”.
St. Angelo Point
The dive site of Sant’Angelo Point winds along a tuffaceous wall located along the southern side of the island of Ischia. The site is rich in fauna both of pass and den; the numerous gorgonians and paramuriaceae, moreover, are joined by spectacular branches of the rare Gerarda savaglia.
St. Pancrazio Point
The dive of San Pancrazio Point follows a steep wall consisting of a landslide, also located along the southern side of Ischia. In its ravines it is easy to find octopus dens and populous populations of shrimps. Thanks to its geographical exposure, there is often a transit of pass fauna.

Chain Choal
The shoal in front of the island of Ischia is the frame of this charming dive, characterized by walls that sink up to 90 meters. The site is rich in Paramuricee, red coral and burrows where moray eels, conger eels and lobsters find refuge. The clarity of the waters and the presence of step fish (tuna, amberjack, etc. …) make it one of the most beautiful dives in the area.
Penta Palummo
Technical diving of rare beauty is reserved for particularly experienced divers. Among the rocky spires of the seabed, it is not rare to find ribs, moray eels and musdee of considerable size. The Mediterranean fauna is well represented as a whole and offers those who meet it, strong emotions.
